Hakea orthorrhyncha is a spreading shrub, reaching 2-3 meters tall and with a 2.5 meter spread.

Bright red flowers appear in clusters along the older stem in late winter and early spring, followed by woody seed pods with two winged seeds.

These pods, with a distinct "beak" shape, give the species its common name. The pods do not release seeds until stimulated by environmental conditions like bushfires.

While popular among enthusiasts, this species can also thrive in humid, temperate areas of the east coast.

It is relatively fast-growing and tolerant of moderate frosts. The species is best grown in an open, sunny position.

While the flowers bloom on older branches, the plant's open habit ensures a beautiful display.

Honeyeating birds are drawn to the attractive flowers.

No live plants can be sent to Tasmania, N.T, W.A or overseas.
