Eucalyptus gracilis
Common name: Yorrell, Snap and rattle, Red mallee, White mallee or Kong mallee.
Eucalyptus gracillis is a luxurious mallee species native to Australia, specifically in south-western regions of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia.
It boasts smooth white bark, with a tendency towards rough, fibrous or flaky bark on its lower stems.
As a multi-stemmed mallee or tree, it can reach heights of up to 7 m and sometimes even 20 m. Its white, grey, and coppery-cream bark adds to its elegant appearance, though it may be rougher at the base of the stems.
It blooms from March to October, producing creamy-white flowers.
Yorrell is commonly found in sandy-clay-loamy soils over limestone in the Eremaean and South West botanical regions of Western Australia.
It also thrives in a variety of soils, including mallee shrubland over limestone in the majority of southern and central South Australia. In Victoria, it is restricted to the north-west of the state.
