Buxus microphylla Faulkner

Common name: - Japanese box

This evergreen shrub features small, glossy dark green leaves and a tight round foliage. It is named "microphylla" due to its small leaves.

This variety of Japanese box has a more compact and denser form. It is an ideal low hedging plant for small gardens, as well as for topiary and container growing.

It can withstand extremely cold temperatures down to -15C. To ensure optimal growth, prepare the soil with compost prior to planting. Plant in well-drained soil, mulch well, and water regularly for the first twelve weeks until the plant is fully established.

It is also more tolerant of acid soils compared to other Buxus varieties. To maintain a neat growth habit, prune after flowering.

 This shrub grows to 0.5-1.5m in height and 1m in width.
