Eucalyptus nutans, more commonly referred to as red-flowered moort, is a mallet tree native to a limited region along the southern coast of Western Australia.
With its sleek bark, elongated or possibly round adult leaves, clusters of seven flower buds, and vibrant red or pink flowers, Eucalyptus nutans is truly a sight to behold.
Its fruit ranges from cup-shaped to conical in appearance. This small, single-stemmed tree typically reaches a height of 4-10 m, but does not produce a lignotuber.
Its bark is smooth and ranges in colour from light brown to grey. This exquisite tree blooms from November to April, with stamens that are a striking deep red or occasionally a delicate cream hue. Eucalyptus nutans is a rare find, located solely in one area near Bremer Bay.
This exquisite evergreen tree or shrub is perfect for screening or wind breaks. I
t thrives in various soil types, including heavy clay. Adorned with stunning red buds that unfurl into vibrant, rich red and cream-yellow blossoms with creamy anthers, it is a delight for birds.
Ideally grown in a sunny, open location with either heavy or well-drained soils, it can withstand prolonged dry spells and moderate frosts once established.
