Eucalyptus pachyphylla, also known as the red-budded mallee or thick-leaved mallee, is a mallee species native to inland Australia.

Its bark is smooth and its leaves are egg-shaped to lance-shaped.

The flower buds are grouped in threes with five pronounced ribs on each, and its fruit is broad, shallow, and either conical or hemispherical.

A smooth-textured bark in shades of white, gray, gray brown, gray-pink, or brown, sheds in loose ribbons at the base.

This elegant tree grows to 1.5-5 meters and is perfect for ornamental use. Delicate creamy yellow flowers bloom from April to July and attract birds.

The thick-leaved mallee thrives in sandy or rocky terrain, particularly on sand dunes and plains, and is commonly found in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, and Queensland.

Used as an ornamental plant, informal screen or windbreak and will attract birds. It is best grown in a position in full sun. It can tolerate drought and moderate frosts.
