Boasting stunning, dusky pink or purple flower heads that nod gracefully, Banksia nutans is a petite shrub that adds an elegant touch to Mediterranean landscapes.

Its versatility as an ornamental and erosion controller is unmatched, though it requires well-drained soil and may struggle in humid summers.

A light pruning can do wonders, and it can withstand most frosts, although it is sensitive to phosphorus and benefits from native fertiliser.

The Proteaceae family member is revered for its decorative fruit and lush, evergreen foliage, and is an excellent choice for low-maintenance or flower gardens, especially in cool or semi-arid climates.

Its petite 2-foot height and preference for sunny to lightly shaded areas make it a tasteful addition to any garden.
