Common name: Lemon Bottlebrush - ( Some herbaria are accepting Melaleuca pallida)

3mx2m

The genus Callistemon, part of the family Myrtaceae, boasts forty distinct species.

These plants, known as 'bottlebrushes', are a popular choice for gardens and add a touch of elegance to any landscape.

Recent studies suggest that Callistemon should be classified together with the larger genus Melaleuca, a fact that some herbaria are now recognizing.

One particular standout is Callistemon pallidus, also known as Lemon Bottlebrush, which has garnered widespread admiration for its exceptional performance in cultivation.

With slender, outstretching branches reaching 3 m in height and 2 m in width, this frost-hardy shrub adds a touch of charm with its fresh, lemon-colored blooms set against grey-green foliage.

Perfect for full sun or partial shade and able to withstand salt-laden winds, this plant makes a lovely addition as a specimen or screen plant in any setting.

Callistemon pallidus grows abundantly in rocky areas of the eastern ranges and can be found in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, and Tasmania.

It is a prevalent species in ACT's mountainous heath, thriving on the slopes. To promote a fuller growth, regularly prune this plant.

For optimal results, we suggest mulching and using a complete fertilizer twice a year, during spring and autumn.

New studies have indicated that the genus Callistemon may be incorporated into the larger genus Melaleuca, a change that some herbaria are now adopting.
