Atriplex lindleyi is native to various regions of Australia, thriving in dry areas of Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, and Western Australia.

It can be found in clay or loam soils, often in depressions or low-lying areas.

While not palatable to livestock, it is able to successfully colonise scalds.

This plant is a versatile annual or perennial herb, with brittle, scaly, whitish stems that can stretch up to 10-40 centimetres.

Its leaves are greenish white, scaly, and often have toothed edges. They have an elegant lance or diamond shape, with lengths of up to 3-4 centimetres.
