Eucalyptus populnea
Common name: Poplar box, Bimble box or Bimbil box
Eucalyptus populnea is a premier tree species native to the eastern region of Australia.
It boasts a beautiful, textured bark on both its trunk and branches, and its leaves possess an elegant, egg-shaped or rounded appearance. In groups of seven to fifteen or more, it produces delicate white flowers and intriguing conical, hemispherical, or cup-shaped fruit.
Standing at an impressive 20 m tall, Eucalyptus populnea typically blooms from August to December, adding a touch of sophistication and charm to the landscapes of New South Wales and Queensland. Known as Poplar box, this tree is commonly found in the northern and central areas of the western plains, complemented by gum coolibah, grey box, and white cypress pine.
It can also be seen on red soils with a sandy loam to clay loam texture, often growing alongside gum coolibah, grey box, and white cypress pine. In rare cases, it can be spotted on sand.
