Pinus halepensis
Common Name: Aleppo Pine
Pinus halepensis is an evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region, known for its drought tolerance. It is well-suited for warm, dry climates as well as temperate and subtropical conditions in Australia. Typically reaching heights of 15-25 meters and a spread of 8-12 meters, this tree has an upright, conical shape when young that later broadens with age. It can thrive in various soil types, including sandy, loamy, and rocky, and is highly tolerant of dry, poor-quality soils. The tree's foliage is long and slender, with needle-like leaves in a vibrant green color. Its small, inconspicuous flowers produce seeds in the form of cones. Due to its fast growth, Pinus halepensis is commonly used for reforestation, landscaping, and as a windbreak.
