Common name: Spotted emu bush, Swamp fuchsia, Native fuchsia,

Eremophila microtheca is a diminutive, compact shrub that grows to 1.5 meters in height and width.

It is endemic to the rare landscapes of Western Australia's coastal regions, specifically near Geraldton and Kalbarri National Park.

It can be found in heathland and mallee-shrubland, usually in close proximity to Melaleuca spp. As one of the few remaining species in the wild, it is considered a threatened plant.

Eremophila spp. usually have alternate or whorled leaves, but in this species, they are fine, linear, and up to 15 mm long and only 1 mm wide.

The leaves give off an odor when crushed, which may not appeal to all gardeners. The shrub produces 5-merous flowers in small clusters per leaf axil.

The flowers are tubular and measure about 30 mm long and 15 mm wide. They have a bluish-purple hue with spots
