Common name: Moonah

Melaleuca lanceolata, commonly referred to as the Moonah Tree, is an evergreen tree or large shrub native to Australia's coastal regions.

Belonging to the Myrtaceae family, it is highly valued for its unique and resilient qualities, making it an ideal choice for coastal landscapes, gardens, and habitat restoration projects.

Typically grows to 4-10 meters in height with a full and lush canopy. Width (meters): Spreads to 3-6 meters, creating a dense and rich foliage cover.

Plant with enough space to accommodate the tree's mature size and promote its dense growth habit.

The leaves of Melaleuca lanceolata are slender, lance-shaped, and give off a pleasant fragrance when crushed. They are usually dark green and provide an attractive background for the tree's unique features.

The tree of Melaleuca lanceolata produces clusters of small, cylindrical, and bottlebrush-like flowers that come in white, cream, or pale pink.

These flowers are plentiful and attract pollinators such as bees and nectar-feeding birds.

With a naturally dense and bushy growth habit, this plant is ideal for coastal landscapes and windbreaks, as well as a screen plant.

It thrives in full sun to partial shade, making it versatile for different lighting conditions.

As for maintenance, it is relatively low maintenance, with minimal pruning needed to maintain its natural form and remove any dead or diseased branches. While it prefers regular moisture, it can also withstand periods of drought once established, making it a suitable choice for coastal regions with varying precipitation.
