Mixed Colour Kangaroo Paw - Anigozanthos flavidus

This tall, vibrant perennial, known as Mixed Colour Kangaroo Paw, is the easiest and most long-lived of its kind to cultivate.

With its clumps of strong, green, strap-like leaves and beautiful, colourful flower stems reaching up to 2 meters, it is sure to attract nectar feeding birds.

During spring and summer, these flowers can vary in hues of bright orange, yellow, red, pink, and mauve, making it a stunning addition to any garden display or as a long-lasting cut flower.

It thrives in well-drained soils and can tolerate full sun to part shade in temperate zones.

For optimal growth, plant in open, sunny positions or in large pots and tubs.

Simply sow the seeds in moist, sandy soil and keep it covered until germination begins, then move to a warm, shaded area. Transplant once seedlings reach 7-8 cm in height and use organic or slow release fertiliser with low phosphates. Water around the base and not the foliage.
