Common name: Blue hibiscus, lilac hibiscus

2.5m

The large flower, with its ever-changing hues, bears a striking resemblance to the Hibiscus.

The flowers of Alyogyne huegelii range in color from mauve to purple, with some rare white and yellow varieties.

Much like its cousin, the Hibiscus, the individual blooms of this plant only last for 1-2 days, but new ones will continue to open throughout the summer and autumn, providing a beautiful display for an extended period.

Initially classified under that genus, it is now highly sought after for its ornamental value in gardens.

With a shrub-like growth up to 4 metres and numerous alternating branches, although lower ones may be more sparse.

This plant thrives in temperate areas, particularly on sandy coastal plains from Geraldton to the Esperance Plains, predominantly in the north and south mallee shrubland and heath.

Its natural habitat spans a diverse range, including sandy, limestone, and clay soils, as well as granite, extending to the Coolgardie region.
